September 28, 2020(1 event) 1:30 pm: Unlocking the Power of Apple Maps Together with Microsoft Soundscape. – Session 1 Group Theory:This session is a comprehensive discussion and demonstration of how to use both Soundscape and Apple Maps. All those participating are expected to take part in this session. Practice in the Community: In-Person, by appointment after the September 28 session.This will be a one-on-one O&M lesson where you will be provided with hands-on orientation to outdoor GPS navigation through a pre-arranged one-on-one lesson with one of our certified Orientation and Mobility instructors and includes a walking route to be determined in your local neighbourhood. September 30, 2020(1 event) 4:30 pm: Mid‑Week Movements and Meditation with Frances Wong. – Stop by for a mid-week check in and to reset yourself for the rest of the week with some light stretches and deep breathing. A certified yoga instructor, Frances Wong will guide you through some gentle movements to wake the body up and then move into some breath work to soothe the nervous system. The sessions are informal and intended to be short and sweet with time briefly at the beginning to check in and see how people are feeling. All you need is a chair without armrests to sit in and clothing that allows for easy movement. These sessions are beginner friendly and no experience is necessary. Please note the new date and time. October 7, 2020(2 events) 2:30 pm: UP Skills workshops. – BALANCE is proud to partner with ABC Life Literacy to offer a workshop series on Wednesdays, starting October 7th, from 2:30pm-4:00pm. The series is comprised of 9 sessions featuring all the soft skills necessary for those looking to set new personal goals or move into new careers. These sessions will explore: time management, stress management, teamwork, presentation, confidence, accountability, adaptability, motivation and attitude. BALANCE will be hosting weekly workshops through Zoom, with each week covering one of the nine topics mentioned. You may either sign up for the series or only for the classes that are of interest to you.
